I am an engineer who sells: someone who turns technology into revenue and helps others do the same. Over thirty years I have led complex sales and consulting into major corporations, built and sold my own software company, run the buy-side of large technology-investment programmes, and advised national oil companies and global majors at board level. I now work fractionally with the leaders of science- and engineering-based B2B companies, typically 50 to 500 people, giving them senior commercial and technology firepower without the cost of a full-time hire. I plug in as a fractional commercial or transformation lead, a chief of staff to the CEO, or a trusted adviser and sounding board, and I step out cleanly when the job is done. My focus is the top line: growing revenue by building the right organisational capability and personal performance, positioning products against the customer's real problems, and capturing a fair share of the value created. I pair that with a technologist's grip on data and its governance, and I am genuinely current on artificial intelligence, building and using AI systems myself, so I can help a team weigh both the value and the risk. I have built a European consulting practice from nothing, carried full profit-and-loss responsibility for a 300-person operation, coached executive teams behind billion-dollar growth plans, and improved one energy major's capital-allocation governance by around half in a single year. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, hold an MBA from London Business School and a first-class engineering degree, and have delivered work in sixteen countries. Based in Bruges with the right to work in the UK and Belgium, I work remotely and travel often. I choose work for its interest and impact, bring challenge and support in equal measure, and stay out of the way of the people doing the job.
